Path of Love: Cinque Terre, Italy by M.L. Buchman

-a Love Abroad B&B romance-

Welcome to the Cinque Terre, the jewel of the Italian Coast. In shades of warm gold, apricot, and peach, these remote stone villages face the Mediterranean. Their narrow cobbled streets are car-free. Instead they’re filled with soft sunlight and hope.

Erica Barnett always dreamed of visiting Italy. But she never planned to arrive alone and devastated. Putting her life back together ranks as a distant second to the priority of fixing her heart.

Ridley Claremont III, wealthy son of a Californian vintner and his trophy wife, discovers the shallowness of his life when his parents are killed in a car wreck. Seeking forgetfulness on a motorcycle driving the European backroads, he stumbles into the tiny cliffside town of Corniglia. Vibrant life greets him around every corner: food and flowers, gelato and friendship. And the wine, most especially the wine.

A man who never faced himself and a woman who finally has, meet in the only place they can. Along the Via dell’Amore, the Path of Love, in Cinque Terre, Italy.

I know there is a whole topic devoted to books and movies in the general section, but it doesn't get much traffic. I would like advice about good books to read about Italian history modern or older, political insights particularly welcome and fiction that gives a flavor of different cities or locales particularly mysteries. Sadly, I am limited to reading in english. Both are easy to read and provide lots of interesting background information though the papacy comes off badly, if that is likely to bother you. It's a true story about a team from a tiny town that gets elevated to Serie B, the second tier of Italian soccer, and the crazy players, fans and sketchy owner. Definitely the Donna Leon mystery series set in Venice.

Melissa Katsoulis enjoys a sparkling summer tale celebrating the power of enduring love.

We get some of the most interesting phone calls at Select Italy. To properly prepare for the presentation, many of our staff read the book. So here is a quick recap and review from yours truly. The story traces interactions stemming from a series of visits to a small pensione in the fictional Ligurian village of Porto Vergogna port of shame. The Italian language is sprinkled throughout as the characters proceed through their lives, with both disastrous and amusing moments along the way.

Other pieces can be found in present-day Hollywood. It might just be the worst screenplay idea Hollywood has ever known. She does not appear anywhere in the book except in one snapshot. But she is only one or two degrees of separation from most of the vividly etched characters. And the repercussions of her notoriously erratic behavior change the lives of all of them.
