If I Stay is a young adult novel  by Gayle Forman published in The story follows year-old Mia Hall as she deals with the aftermath of a catastrophic car accident involving her family. Mia is the only member of her family to survive, and she finds herself in a coma. Through this coma, however, Mia has an out-of-body experience. Through this, she is able to watch the actions around her, as friends and family gather at the hospital where she is being treated.
If I Stay is a American teen romantic drama film directed by R. Cutler and based on the novel of the same name by Gayle Forman. Mia Hall and her family are getting ready to go on with their normal day activities when it is announced on the radio that school has been canceled. Mia's dad Denny is a teacher and as a result of the snow day does not have to go to work. Mia's mom Kat, a travel agent, decides to call in sick and along with her family get on the road to visit Mia's grandparents who live on a farm. It is also revealed that Mia is dating an older, popular up-and-coming rockstar named Adam Wilde. The story flashes back to Mia's early life with a rocker dad and an inexperienced mom, when one day they take Mia to a music class where Mia decides that she wants to start playing the cello.

Mia learns this after having an out-of-body experience which let her see what is occurring around her. Mia is now given the chance to stay alive or die. The story begins before the car accident, the amount of snow on the road caused schools to close for the day.
Granted, a lot of this stuff works better on the page. Cutler and screenwriter Shauna Cross have stayed true to its back-and-forth structure, and the small tweaks in details here and there are improvements.

If I Stay is a short novel by author Gayle Forman. The story follows one day in the life of seventeen-year-old Mia, who has been critically injured in an accident that took the lives of her parents and younger brother. As Mia has an out-of-body experience that enables her to observe all that is happening around her, she reflects on her. She is faced with the decision of whether she wants to fight to live or let go. When the novel opens, an inch of snow has fallen overnight. Schools in Mia's Oregon hometown are closed for the day. Mia, her father who is a middle school English teacher , and her younger brother Teddy are home for the day.
On one snowy morning, school is cancelled, leaving Mia and Teddy, as well as their father, an English teacher, with the day off. Mia is a talented cellist, and has recently auditioned for The Juilliard School in New York City, where she hopes to study the following year, after she graduates from high school. Everyone piles into the family car, and they start to drive. Mia finds her mother and father dead from the accident, and sees her own body, unconscious, still in the vehicle. She realizes she is having a kind of out-of-body experience: she cannot feel any pain, and appears to be able to move around as she pleases, though no one can see her. An ambulance soon arrives.
